Talk on "Gender Equality - Empowering Women in the Workplace", was organized by the Internal Committee (IC) of the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF), Porvorim, on 12th March 2025, in commemoration of the International Women's Day. The guest speaker was Prof. Vrinda Borker (Member, Goa State Commission for Women and former Principal of Dhempe College, Panaji). The programme commenced with Prof. Malapati Janarthanam (Chairperson - GSRF) welcoming the dignitaries. Also present were Shri Bhushan Savaikar (Director, Directorate of Higher Education), Smt. Varsha Naik (Director, Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities), Prof. Savio Falleiro (Managing Director - GSRF), and Adv. Emidio Pinho. Smt. Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF) facilitated via collaboration with the IQAC and Research & Development Cell of Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, a half-day Workshop for faculty members on "Tips for Good Academic Writing: Essential Resources for College Faculty", on 27th February 2025. A total of 37 faculty members attended the interactive workshop. Prof Malapati Janarthanam (Chairman - GSRF) welcomed the participants; the resource persons were Prof. Savio Falleiro (Managing Director - GSRF) and Dr. Manoj Ibrampurkar (Nodal Officer/Schemes - GSRF). Dr. Varsha Ingalhalli (Workshop Coordinator - Vidya Prabodhini College) proposed the Vote of Thanks. Support of Prof. Bhushan Bhave (Principal - Vidya Prabodhini College) was pivotal to the success of the Workshop. The 2nd edition of the Four Days (30 hours) Workshop on ""Data Analysis and Statistical Power using R", was successfully organized by the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF), Povorim, for PhD Research Scholars, from 11th to 14th February 2025 at the GSRF Conference-cum-Training Hall. As was for the first batch, the 2nd edition (for the 2nd batch of 21 participants from diverse disciplines) was facilitated by Dr. Pronoy Baidya as resource person. On the first day at the inaugural function, Prof. Savio Falleiro (Managing Director - GSRF) welcomed the participants; he also gave brief highlights on the role and objectives of the GSRF. Prof. Malapati Janarthanam (Chairperson - GSRF) then outlined the purpose for organizing the workshop. Prof. Bhushan Bhave, Principal, Vidhya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Programme. Prof. Savio Falleiro in his address thanked the Chief Guest and the Resource Person, and said that it was the endeavour of GSRF to promote research across Goa at all levels in different ways; he also congratulated the participants for their focused and interactive participation at the workshop. Chief Guest Prof. Bhave in his address commended the GSRF as well as the Resource Person for the meticulous initiation of research; he added that research on need-centric areas, aided with technological advancements and new research software, was the need of the hour. Certificates of participation were distributed by the Chief Guest at the end. Also present were Ms. Liza Fernandes Pereira (JDA - GSRF) and Asst. Prof. Klins Mendes (workshop-in-charge). View moreFIELD WORKSHOP FOR SY-BSc STUDENTS

A field workshop was conducted by GSRF, in association with Government College, Quepem, Goa, for interested second-year B.Sc. students with biology subjects on 16/12/2023 in Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. The same was organised to help undergraduate students get incentivised to research through exposure to the Biodiversity Rich Western Ghats running through the State of Goa. Dr Pronoy Baidya, an Ecologist with extensive work on biodiversity, and Prof. M K Janarthanam (Chairperson, GSRF), a plant taxonomist, were the resource persons. Twenty-four students attended the workshop with a few teachers under the leadership of Prof. Mehtab Bukhari of Government College, Quepem.

Goa State Higher Education Council and Goa State Research Foundation, with the support of the Department of Higher Education, celebrated Teachers Day with a difference by starting a “Research Grant Writing Workshop” for the faculty members of Goa University and its affiliated colleges (including autonomous colleges). Every day, a new group of faculty members from different disciplines participated, and a new set of subject experts guided the participants. For organisers, every moment was a satisfying moment. Faculty members were enthusiastic, and their positive feedback was encouraging. Workshop concluded on 12th Sept 2023. 213 faculty members attended the workshop.

FDP was held at Block-B Seminar Hall and BG-3 classroom, Goa University, Taleigao-Goa. The workshop aimed to provide participants with valuable knowledge and practical skills in enhancing final-year student projects. The Directorate of Higher Education organised the event in collaboration with Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC), Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF) and Goa University. It attracted 433 participants from various disciplines & institutions.

Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) are one of the important stakeholders for implementing the objectives of the GSRF. Hence, right in January, immediately after the Chairperson joined the GSRF, emails were sent to various HEIs for their convenient date and time to meet the stakeholders. Several institutions have responded positively. The Chairperson of GSRF, along with colleagues (Prof. Vithal Tilvi, Prof. Niyan Marchon and Dr Mahesh Majik) of GSHEC, made 30 visits to various HEIs, explained the objectives of the foundation, the necessity of doing research and interacting with Government departments and Industries.
